Course Description

This course explores the question, what is life? Students will critically examine how microbes, plants, and animals are adapted to their environment, how they function, and how they interact with each other. Students will analyze the branches of the tree of life and learn how to reconstruct the evolution of this vast biodiversity, how it benefits us, and how it can be conserved and sustained. Throughout the course, students will develop scientific inquiry skills by analyzing evidence about the natural world. Concurrent registration in both lecture and lab is required.
