Dean’s List
Undergraduate students who earn a term grade point average of 3.500 or higher by completing nine or more term credit hours of coursework for which grade points are earned are placed on the semester Dean’s List. This achievement is noted on the student’s permanent academic record (transcript).
Academic Honors for Graduation
The following academic honors for graduation are awarded to undergraduate students:
Summa Cum Laude. Students must have earned a cumulative FIU GPA of 3.900 or higher.
Magna Cum Laude. Students must have earned a cumulative FIU GPA between 3.700 and 3.899.
Cum Laude. Students must have earned a cumulative FIU GPA between 3.500 and 3.699.
*NOTE: Graduate degrees do not award honors for GPA.
To graduate with the honors designations listed above an undergraduate student must receive grade points in a minimum of 40 semester hours of credit at FIU. An exception to the minimum 40 credits will be made for the 33-credit RN-BSN Program and RN-BSN/MSN Combined Degree Pathway, for the BSN. The honors designation is noted on the student’s permanent academic record (transcript) when the degree is posted.
P/F, S/U and AU (audit) grades do not count towards the minimum credit total.
Credits earned prior to readmission under academic amnesty or salvage are not applicable in computing the FIU 40 or 33 credit-requirement grade points to graduate with honors.
