The PhD in Computer Science is to designed to provide cutting-edge research in all major areas of computer science while leading to the frontiers of knowledge in a student's chosen field of concentration. Students will work closely with faculty embodying a broad range of computing interests, often affiliated with various dynamic and innovative research laboratories, centers, and groups around serveral areas of specialization. The areas in which students may carry out dissertation research include machine learning and AI, cybersecurity, Internet-of-Things, high performance computing, bioinformatics, intelligent systems, databases, and modeling and simulation. With a highly individualized program of study, the degree provides students with depth in their chosen research area, coupled with a rigorous breadth of knowledge across the discipline.
