Law of Technology

The Master of Science (MS) in the Law of Technology aims to harness technology toward the creation of business efficiencies and up-to-date risk assessments within the practice of law; to develop alternative service delivery models; and to create for the law/business domain a flexible, knowledgeable workforce of “life learners” adaptable to change. Upon completion of the program, graduates will: 1. Gain practical, hands-on study of current best practices in the law of data privacy (global and domestic), data protection, and cybersecurity fundamentals and compliance. 2. Gain knowledge of, and facility with, the principles of digital business law and the burgeoning variegation within the legal services delivery sector. Topics include law practice management and technology, digital evidence and forensics, consumer internet-of-things protections, supply chain, big data analytics, introduction to artificial intelligence, and technology-related corporate transactions (e.g., mergers and acquisitions). 3. Gain both an understanding of, and a practical application in, Blockchain technology and related disruptive innovations: the digital ledger, cryptography and cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and machine learning. 4.
