Degree Offered

MFA - Master of Fine Arts

Program Title

Visual Arts

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts is the terminal degree in Studio Art. It is an intense, production-oriented studio art program directed toward individual development. Through studio-based practice, the MFA curriculum fosters rigorous critical engagement with contemporary and historical cultural art forms focused on what we make, how, and why we make it. This transdisciplinary, transnational program challenges artists to develop a critical body of work through experimentation, research, and exploration. The program facilitates connections to the highest levels of contemporary art and design discourse. Faculty guide artists in their pursuit of sustained and successful careers in the arts that will shape the future of visual culture. The curriculum is designed for maximum flexibility to accommodate those seeking advanced training in a particular studio area and those whose interests may involve media cross-over. Graduates of the program will be prepared for careers as professional artists. For more information, visit the College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts website.
