The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry (certified by the American Chemical Society) prepares students to take a leading role in industry, education, or government service. Graduates are equipped with a diverse set of skills and knowledge that are valued in professional fields. These include laboratory techniques essential for chemical analysis and experimentation; knowledge of safety regulations and proper handling of chemicals; the ability to identify, organize, summarize problems and effectively communicate new ideas in drug discovery, medicine, environment, food chemistry, materials, energy fields, and policymaking; and helping the next generation of scientists through secondary education. Students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry will, by earning the BS in Chemistry, have a strong foundation for advanced work in their particular field of study.
