The Doctor of Design (DDes) program is a 2-year, low-residency post-professional doctoral program. Candidates may opt to study either primarily online, or in person in Miami. The program is designed for working professionals and academics, allowing them to remain in post, while completing their doctoral studies. It focuses on three areas of research: Advanced Design Technologies; Environmental Studies; and History, Theory and Criticism. The DDes prepares candidates to reach the highest levels of the profession and academia, and to contribute to design knowledge through scholarship, research, and innovation. Providing specialized credentials for advanced professional and academic applied research, the DDes is designed for research-active candidates who are teaching or aspiring to teach in college/university departments of architecture worldwide.
