Animation Media Major

The Animation Media major is designed for students transferring from the Miami-Dade College MAGIC program with an A.S. in Animation and Game Art. Other students may be admitted to this major with permission from the School Director.

Common Prerequisites

Common Prerequisites include the following: course and course and any MMC prefixed course.

Academic Progression Requirements

MAGIC program: Students transferring from the Miami Dade College MAGIC program who wish to enroll in the Animation Media or Game Media majors must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85, including all transfer work in addition to at least 15 hours of FIU work, in order to be eligible to take advanced (4000-level) major-specific requirements.

 All other students: In order to be eligible to take advanced (4000-level) major-specific requirements, first time and transfer students seeking this degree must successfully pass course, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85, including all transfer work in addition to at least 15 hours of FIU work. Before taking the advanced major-specific courses, students must pass with a "C" or better the following required courses: course, course, and course. course also satisfies the FIU Humanities Group 2 core requirement and a Global Learning requirement, while course satisfies a discipline-specific Global Learning requirements.

Completion requirement

Students in the Animation Media major must satisfy all the following requirements as instructed.

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Students transferring from Miami Dade College with an Associate in Science degree may take 18 credits to satisfy missing requirements in General Education.
AND
Complete ALL of the following Courses:
AND
Students in the Animation Media major who have satisfied all of their General Education, Core Degree and Major Specific requirements and who are still shy of the 120 credits needed to graduate, may choose any course at the 3000/4000 level from ADV, COM, DIG, JOU, MMC, PUR, RTV, SPC.
Completion requirement

All students in this degree must complete a degree core that includes five courses:

*Students in the following majors must complete course: Digital Broadcast Journalism, Digital and Interactive Media, Digital Journalism, Digital TV and Multimedia Production.

Choose any course at the 3000/4000 level from ADV, COM, DIG, JOU, MMC, PUR, RTV, SPC

AND
In consultation with an advisor, students must select a coherent series of four upper-division courses (3000/4000 level). Students may select an Area of Concentration from courses within the School, or from a non-communication area that can be related to their career.
Completion requirement

Students in the Digital and Interactive Media major must satisfy all the following requirements as instructed.

Choose any course at the 3000/4000 level from ADV, COM, DIG, JOU, MMC, PUR, RTV, SPC
AND

Students in the Digital Journalism major must satisfy all the following requirements as instructed.

Any SCJ courses at the 3000/4000 level from ADV, COM, DIG, JOU, MMC, PUR, RTV, SPC

Students in the Digital TV and Multimedia Production major must satisfy all the following requirements as instructed.

Game Media Major

The Game Media major is designed for students transferring from the Miami-Dade College MAGIC program with an A.S. in Game Development and Design. Other students may be admitted to this major with permission from the School Director.

Sports Media Major

With an expansive program that features both classroom and experiential curriculum, the Sports Media major in the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media will prepare students a gateway into this burgeoning industry, offering career paths with local, national and international employment opportunities, all while maximizing the breadth of sports content available in and around Miami.

Specialized Admissions Requirements for BS in Digital Communication and Media
