The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Information Technology broadens options for students who pursue another undergraduate degree. Available as a second degree, the BA in Information Technology program prepares students with the competencies and business skills essential for a career in information technology. The industry-developed curriculum includes core courses in computer networking, operating systems, website construction, and management, with the opportunity to choose electives to deepen your knowledge in network security, mobile app development, and Unix/Linux. The BA in Information Technology includes hands-on skill development, focusing on becoming proficient in new, innovative technologies. Students will build technical abilities, be prepared for real-life situations, and be able to apply knowledge of computers, programming, and all IT-related tasks to the professional world—from business to government to education to non-profit organizations. The Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida has recognized FIU as a top institution for training tech talent for its innovative approaches in educating the next generation of top computing specialists.
